Sandrine de Borman Artist Talk

IMG_8290Event details:Date: July 28th, 7-9PMVenue: Allan Brooks Nature CentreAll are welcome!  Light snacks and refreshments will be served.Sandrine will be giving a presentation about her past and current work that she has done here in Vernon.  De Borman’s presentation on Thursday July 28th will highlight her weeks of botanic research, collection, and art making here in the Okanagan.De Borman’s artwork was featured in the Caetani Cultural Centre’s Port Studio Unveiling.  Her unique techniques of hammering fresh plants into fabrics, and using the chemical reaction between the naturally occurring substances in plants and certain fixatives, piqued the interest of many people, leading to two extremely successful workshops during her stay.The last time to catch her will be during her presentation at the Allan Brooks Nature Centre, where she will: share the process of her art, the works that she created here in Vernon, as well as touch on past work that she has created.  Belgian artist, de Borman emphasizes the importance of appreciating nature, and human connection in her “walking and talking” art pieces.  She creates meaningful pieces of art where she walks with someone while collecting plants to use in her art piece while collecting stories that are later written into her art piece.De Borman’s residency is the second of four back-to-back Fresh!AiR art and environment themed artist residencies for the 2016 season.Read more about Sandrine and her art by clicking here...
