News Event: Support Sveva's Vision on #Giving Tuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
This year's Giving Tuesday takes place Tuesday, November 29th, 2022.
As a visionary figure in the community, our benefactor Sveva Caetani had a deep belief that culture, education, knowledge and artistic endeavours benefit all of society.
Thanks to YOUR support, the Caetani Cultural Centre Society, a not-for-profit and charitable organization, continues to achieve its mission to protect the Caetani family story, collections and home while keeping heritage, arts and culture as our focal point.
We have also made significant strides in keeping Sveva's legacy alive.
With the opening of our museum and the repatriation of Sveva's Recapitulation painting series of 47 watercolour works, which tell her life's journey through imaginative and fascinating detail, we have welcomed visitors from near and far to see and hear Sveva's remarkable story.
We have also continued with our artist and writer-in-residence program, welcoming artists from around Canada to live and create in Sveva's former home, and engage with the local community.
Our beautiful 1.3-acre property also continues to be used for fundraisers and fun community events.
How Does Your Continued Support Help?
There is still much work to be done to restore the Caetani house to its former glory and maintain the integrity of our collections, house and grounds. Our Bringing Sveva Home fundraiser helps us raise seed funding towards capital projects so that we can better tell the Caetani story, protect our collections, and maintain Sveva's heralded Recapitulation series for years to come.
What can you do?
SPONSOR an original Recapitulation artwork for $500 - $5000 orDONATE what you can towards the overall project and receive a charitable tax receipt. orPURCHASE locally made art from our Bringing Sveva Home art exhibition, featuring works by local artists currently on display until the end of November at the Vernon Towne Theatre.

About Sveva Caetani’s Recapitulation Painting Series:
Recapitulation is a series of 47 separate works comprised of 60 unique watercolour paintings that Caetani took 11 years to complete in the late-1970s and through the 1980s. The paintings depict the late Vernon artist’s incredible and inspiring and challenging life story and are loosely based on Dante Alighieri’s narrative poem The Divine Comedy.
In March, 2021, all of the paintings were returned to the Caetani Centre from the Alberta Foundation for the Arts in Edmonton, where they were kept in their archives for more than 30 years, Repatriated to Sveva’s former home in Vernon, which now operates as a museum and cultural centre, only part of the series is currently on display in the Caetani Centre’s gallery.
The Caetani Centre started the Bringing Sveva Home campaign in order to ensure the safety and security of the paintings and also enhance and enlarge the centre’s small 800 sq. ft. gallery in order to display more of this unique collection.
