February: Caetani hosts Valley Voices and Vernon Winter Carnival Events
The Caetani Centre is kicking off 2025 with some exciting events in February
Join us on Feb. 5 for the next Valley Voices Reading Series and on Feb. 12 for the Vernon Winter Carnival A Winter’s Night Painting Party
Join Okanagan writers Hannah Calder and jaz papadopoulos as they read from their respective works at the next Valley Voices reading: Gender, Rebellion & Rising, taking place at the Caetani Centre Gallery on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 7 pm.
Calder will launch her third novel, Hester in Sunlight, which is loosely based on Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter and explores what it means to be a woman and mother, then and now.
papadopoulos will read from their new collection of poetry, I Feel That Way Too, which critically engages the impacts of the #MeTo movement, exposing media and social power.
Doors to the event open at 6:30 pm. Admission is free. Books and refreshments will be available to purchase.
A Winter Night’s Painting Party
We are excited to announce the return of our popular Vernon Winter Carnival event, a Winter's Night Painting Party, Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the Caetani Gallery.
Explore your creative side by painting a Sveva Caetani-inspired image from her original work, Playing with Penrose, Aztec Fan V, painted in the late-1980s to align with this year's Carnival theme, Back to the '80s.
Our professional artist Destanne Norris will guide you through, encouraging you to create your own work of art that emulates the style and theme of a Caetani original using your own colours, inspiration and imagination using acrylic paint on a 14” x 11” canvas panel.
Your ticket includes instruction, all art supplies, Italian wine, cheese, charcuterie, socializing, and best of all, you get to keep the painting you create to take home and frame.
