Caetani Centre hosts new Workshops for Fall-Winter

The Caetani Centre is pleased to announce that we are holding a new series of two different workshops open to youth and the community at large.

Workshops will take place in the fall/winter of 2024-2025 at the Caetani Centre on the property once owned by lauded Italian-Canadian artist Sveva Caetani.

All workshops are pay-what-you-can with funding assistance available so that all populations can partake.

CREATING SPACE:

Starting Nov. 2, 2024 and continuing to April, 2025 is Creating Space, a series of accessible, inclusive workshops and open studio time for youth ages 13-18.

Creating Space has been designed with equity-deserving and historically under-represented youth in mind, and is open to all. The program provides a safe and inclusive environment for youth to explore, create and innovate through various artistic mediums.

Each workshop and open studio will be facilitated by a professional artist specializing in a variety of art mediums. Youth will gain insight and support from these artists who have each experienced and overcome barriers and discrimination in their personal and professional lives.

Youth will also be able to take part in an exhibition and curation workshop to prepare for an exhibition of their art and writing to be held in the Caetani Gallery in April 2025.

CREATIVE RECONCILIATION:

Creative Reconciliation offers an in-depth exploration of syilx culture and practice. Held on the first Monday of every month from November, 2024 to March, 2025 (January’s workshop will be on the second Monday), each session provides a distinct opportunity to learn about respectful engagement with First Nation communities, experience traditional storytelling, understand cultural appropriation, and participate in environmental stewardship.

Interactive activities and thoughtful discussions will offer valuable insights into cultural respect and environmental care. Although each workshop is designed to stand alone, attendees are welcome to join any individual session or participate in the entire series.

Each workshop takes place at the Caetani Centre Gallery at 3401 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon BC, on Monday afternoons from 1 to 4 PM.

Although each workshop is designed to stand alone, attendees are welcome to join any individual session or participate in the entire series.
